British Airways has suspended flights to this Middle East destination until next year

British Airways will not be resuming flights to Abu Dhabi until the end of next year, leaving passengers with only one other direct flight option from the UK.

The airline usually operates flights to the city in the United Arab Emirates , but has suspended the route for the 2026/27 winter season. It says flights to Abu Dhabi are due to return next year.

The only airline with direct flights from the UK to Abu Dhabi is Etihad, which flies out of London Heathrow.

British Airways suspended most flights to the Middle East shortly after the start of the Iran war in February, initially stating that they would resume on 1 July.

Flights to Dubai were pushed back to 25 October, but will now be delayed even further, recommencing on 3 November. One flight will run per day during the winter season, which will increase to two for the summer season.

Flights to Riyadh are also scheduled to restart on the same date, with one daily flight.

The day after, on 4 November, flights to Amman in Jordan are scheduled to resume, with four a week.

British Airways flights to Tel Aviv in Israel have also been paused throughout the summer, but are scheduled to resume on 25 October, with one a day.

Flights are suspended to Bahrain until the end of March 2027.

The airline has already restarted flights to Doha, but reduced daily flights from two to one.

If any British Airways customers had booked to travel to or from Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh up to and including 31 October, they can request a full refund even if the flight is still set to operate.
