This year, Prime Day got off to an unusual start with the news that one of the biggest online sales of the year would move to June, a month earlier than previous years. Now, Amazon has officially released the dates of the sale—it'll be from June 23-26, 2026. Here is everything else you need to know about the Prime Day sale kicking off later this month.
Why did Amazon move Prime Day to June this year?
As I originally covered in April when the news broke out, Amazon moved Prime Day from July to June this year. While Amazon didn't exactly give an explanation as to why, I have a pretty good guess: It seems the news of the move to June was released prematurely as a mistake, as reported by Mahsable. My suspicion is that Amazon meant to keep the June dates secret to catch competitors like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy off guard and have less competition during the sale. But only Amazon really knows why the sale was moved to June this year.
When is Prime Day 2026?
Earlier this month, Amazon published a press release with the specific dates: Prime Day 2026 will run from June 23 to June 26. This is the second time Amazon has doubled the original length of the sale from two to four days, with last year being the first time, hinting this might be the new norm moving forward.
Can I get Amazon Prime for free?
Yes, Amazon offers a free 30-day trial, so you can shop all four days of the event before canceling without being charged. Here's how to sign up for a Prime account and all of the benefits that come with it.
You can absolutely share your Prime membership to shop during Prime Day with family or friends, but there are limitations if you don't live together. This can be done through the Amazon Family program, which lets you share Prime benefits with another adult (aged 18 or older), up to four teens, and up to four children in your household. Just keep in mind that you will need to be a Prime member, and people with a free trial can't share Prime benefits.
What else does Prime Day get me?
There are a lot of Prime benefits, many of which are outside of shopping, like medical care, free e-books, gaming, etc. The best way to see if it's worth getting a membership is to understand everything it offers and consider how much of that you would realistically use. Remember that Prime has different costs depending on which plan you choose.
What deals can I expect for Prime Day?
Amazon says that you can expect up to 40% off fashion, up to 30% off electronics, and up to 30% off on beauty and personal care products. Amazon will also have 50% off Amazon Haul (a budget storefront like Temu or Shein) sitewide on day one. Keep an eye out for "Today's Big Deals," which will drop three times daily during the event and will have limited-time deals for Prime members. These are likely going to be the best deals during Prime Day, where you can find deals like 70% off the Blink Outdoor 4 Wireless smart security camera; 50% off best-sellers from top brands like Drunk Elephant, SHOKZ, Nespresso, and Levi's; and 40% off Our Place. How do I spot fake deals or track price drops?
Amazon is no stranger to artificially manipulating list prices and deals to fool you into thinking you're getting a bargain. Luckily, we've got the tools and knowledge to spot those fake deals. You can use the same tools I use when I vet the deals I choose to cover.
Is Amazon Prime Big Deal Days the same as Prime Day?
I know it feels like Amazon is having a "big sale" every season. That's because they basically are. During spring, Amazon has the Big Spring Sale, which, as the name implies, is a big online sale that Amazon has during the spring every year. In the fall, Amazon has October Prime Day. And during the summer, it's just plain old "Prime Day," which is the original and likely biggest sale they have all year. If you're wondering which sale to splurge on, Prime Day is it. It has consistently had the best deals throughout the year.
