In a world that asks us to be constantly switched on, finding practices that help us genuinely slow down has never been more important.
Yin Yoga and acupuncture are two practices that naturally complement one another, creating the ideal conditions for your nervous system to shift out of stress and into rest, recovery and repair.
Your nervous system is always listening
Every experience you have is interpreted by your nervous system.
When life feels full, it’s easy to spend more time in a state of alertness. Your heart rate stays elevated, your muscles remain subtly contracted and your mind finds it harder to switch off.
While this response is incredibly helpful in moments of danger, living there all the time can leave us feeling exhausted, reactive and disconnected from ourselves.
Practices that help us access the parasympathetic nervous system, often called our “rest and digest” state, allow the body to recover, regulate and restore.
How Yin supports regulation
Yin Yoga invites us to slow down.
Long-held postures, steady breathing and stillness encourage us to release unnecessary muscular effort and soften out of habitual tension.
Rather than asking the body to do more, Yin creates space for the nervous system to recognise that it is safe to let go.
Many people leave a Yin practice feeling calmer, clearer and more grounded, not because they forced themselves to relax, but because they created the conditions for relaxation to emerge naturally.
How acupuncture complements Yin
Acupuncture works with the body’s own regulatory systems.
During a Yin & Pins session, very fine needles are placed at carefully selected points while you rest in supported Yin postures.
The combination of physical stillness and acupuncture creates a deeply restorative experience, often helping people settle even more fully into a state of rest.
Many people notice they sleep better, feel calmer, experience less muscular tension and leave with a greater sense of ease.
A different kind of wellbeing
Yin & Pins isn’t about pushing harder or fixing yourself.
It’s about giving your body and nervous system the opportunity to do what they were designed to do when they feel safe: restore, recover and rebalance.
If you’ve been feeling like you’ve been running on empty, this practice offers a chance to simply pause.
To breathe.
To receive.
To remember what it feels like when your whole system lets out a sigh.
Join us for Yin & Pins on Thursday 21 August at Power Living Neutral Bay.
