There are plenty of accommodation options on a cruise ship and staying in a suite can add an extra element of luxury to a sailing.

Options range from family-friendly suites with slides, games and lounges to adult-only cabins complete with their own butler.

Many include balconies or hot tubs, plus private entrances, and access to exclusive bars or restaurants.

The cruise fare will be higher than a standard interior or balcony cabin but the price may also include extras such as wifi, tips, spa access and excursions.

A range of cruise lines offer suites including Royal Caribbean, Princess and Celebrity Cruises.

1. Royal Caribbean Family Treehouse Suite

Fancy a slide in your suite? Royal Caribbean’s newest ships such as Icon and Star of the Seas offer family suites that come with their own slides, karaoke rooms and private lounge areas.

But it is reaching new heights on Hero of the Seas, which launches in 2027, with the Ultimate Family Treehouse.

Measuring 1,772 square feet, it includes a three-deck treehouse with space for 12 guests across a rooftop terrace and private whirlpool, a two-deck games room and two main bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and balcony.

There is also an outdoor kitchen for al fresco dining.

Prices depend on the sailing but are currently at around £90,000 per person for Caribbean itineraries on August 2027 sailings.

This includes a personal butler, drinks, wifi and priority access to the ship, shows and a private restaurant.

Disney Cruise Line’s ships are recognisable by their bright red funnels – but guests may not realise that they can actually stay inside some of them.

The newest ships in the fleet,Wish, Destiny andTreasure actually have high-end suites hidden in the front funnels. These are called Tower Suites.

The two-storey rooms are 1,966 square feet and have space for eight guests across two master bedrooms, a children’s bedroom with bunkbeds and a library that can be converted into another bedroom.

Passengers also get your own lounge and kitchen area, with dishwasher and coffee machine as well as a private lift into the funnel.

It features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide unrivalled views of the front of the ship.

Each has its own theme. The Disney Wish Tower Suite is Moana-themed, while Disney Treasure has a Tomorrow Tower Suite inspired by the Epcot theme park.

Disney Destiny’s Tower Suite is a dream for superhero fans. It is Iron Man-themed and has a model of Tony Stark’s iconic mask.

Prices start from around £15,000 depending on the sailing and it includes priority boarding and extras such as premium wifi, a curated bar and daily snacks.

3. Celebrity Cruises Iconic Suite

Get the same view as the captain in Celebrity Cruises’ Iconic Suite.

Positioned above the bridge in The Retreat luxury space, guests get more than 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space including two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a terrace with its own hot tub.

Passengers also get your own butler, minibar, complimentary dining and spa access.

The suites are available on Celebrity Cruises’ Edge class ships including the newest Xcel ship.

Luxury brand Regent Seven Seas will have the largest suite at sea on board Seven Seas Prestige, which is launching later this year.

For around £20,000 per night, guests will get 9,000 square feet of space, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and accommodating up to six people.

The suite has two large bedrooms a bar, lounge, spa-style bathroom and gym as well as a more than 3,500-square-foot wraparound balcony.

It is accessed via a private elevator and guests also get access to private dining.

Wifi, tips and excursions are included plus you get a private driver in port and complimentary caviar.

You can live like a rockstar on Virgin Voyages’ cruise ships.

Suite guests aboard the cruise line’s adult-only fleet including Scarlet Lady get access to an exclusive Richard’s Rooftop deck with a bar, sunbeds and hot tubs.

You could also push the boat out for ultra-luxury treatment by staying in the RockStar Quarters, with sizes ranging from 615 square feet to the 2,147-square-foot Mega RockStar Quarters.

Guests staying in the largest rooms get a suite complete with a record player, guitars for jamming sessions as well as a round-the-clock rockstar agent for support, spa access, wifi and a bottomless in-room bar.
