How Did Homelander Lose His Powers?
Using her new anti-Supe powers, Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) removed Homelander’s abilities after he took control over America in his god-like position. Kimiko blasted Homelander, and he was practically incapacitated in comparison to his invincible, ruthless nature.
Upon losing his powers, Homelander was placed in the most vulnerable position viewers had ever seen him in.
Does Homelander Die in The Boys Finale?
Yes. Homelander finally got what he deserved in the final episode of The Boys in a brutally bloody death. Butcher (Karl Urban) seized the moment to literally butcher and pummel Homelander on live TV, extracting any wannabe-god confidence he once had.
Butcher finished off Homelander by driving a crowbar through the latter’s skull. And, as fans already know, Homelander’s death wasn’t just a physical demise for the character. It was also a public humiliation and the takedown of a dictator.
Who Else Died in The Boys Season 5 Finale?
Quite a few characters died in the finale, aside from Homelander’s brutal ending. Oh Father (Daveed Diggs), The Deep (Chace Crawford), Butcher and his dog, Terror.
Oh Father died in the epic White House battle. Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) delivered the final blow for Oh Father, forcing his sonic attack back onto him using a ball gag. Oh Father’s head exploded in the end.

The Deep also suffered a dramatic ending by dying during a fight with Starlight/Annie. Annie dragged him into the ocean for still siding with Homelander, and The Deep was eventually killed by the sea creatures as an octopus wrapped his head in its tentacles.
Butcher’s dog Terror’s death pushed him over the edge before his own death. Although Butcher was the one to kill Homelander and his planned authoritarian regime, Butcher still tried to carry out the genocide of the Supes with the re-release of the virus. Houghie (Jack Quaid) fatally shot Butcher, and the latter bled out in his arms.

What Happened to Soldier Boy in the Finale Episode?
Surprisingly, Soldier Boy did not appear in the season 5 finale. As fans can recall, the penultimate episode saw Soldier Boy’s (a.k.a Ben’s) departure, as Homelander unsuccessfully tried to convince Soldier Boy that he could have a life of fame, fortune and glory with him. In the end, Homelander strangled Soldier Boy until he was unconscious, then pushed him back on the ice to handle him later.
So, Soldier Boy’s whereabouts in season 5, episode 8, are never confirmed. His fate is left up to viewers’ discretion for now, until Vought Rising premieres in 2027.

What Happened to Ryan & His Powers in the Finale?
Ryan survived the grim finale of The Boys, and his fate is left up in the air after he witnessed Butcher’s decline. The show seemingly gave the character an open-ended future to possibly become a better Supe than Butcher or Homelander ever was.
