The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 with 512GB of storage is currently $1,849.99, down from $2,099.99. That saves you $250, or about 12%, and price trackers indicate that this is its lowest price yet. Samsung introduced it at its Galaxy Unpacked event in July alongside the now discounted Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8, with the standard Fold 8 taking a slightly different approach than the taller Ultra—it uses a shorter and wider shape that makes its 7.6-inch inner screen more comfortable for things like watching videos, reading ebooks, browsing webpages, or working through documents.

That larger 1,848 by 2,448 pixel folding display also uses a more media-friendly aspect ratio than earlier Fold models, which helps reduce the thick black bars that can appear around videos. PCMag highlighted that improvement in its “excellent” review of the Z Fold 8 and also noted that Samsung has made the crease less noticeable. Inside, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor is paired with 12GB of memory and Android 17, giving the phone enough power for games and the kind of multitasking that makes a foldable genuinely useful—you could keep a video call open beside a document, for example, or compare two shopping apps without constantly jumping between them.

As for its battery life, the 4,800mAh battery lasted 16 hours and 30 minutes in PCMag’s testing, which is a strong showing for a foldable. The camera system, however, is less convincing: its two 50-megapixel rear cameras are fine for everyday photos, but the overall results are reportedly fairly average for such an expensive phone, and it lacks a telephoto lens for optical zoom. Also, while Samsung has now made switching from an iPhone more streamlined, iPhone users may want to weigh that against Apple’s newly announced foldable (with preorders now available following the company’s September hardware event) before moving ecosystems. Still, Android users who want a compact phone/tablet hybrid may find the Fold 8 appealing at this record-low price.
