Ultra-light Aerominum chassis with RTX power and dual AI
LG
LG just revealed its 2026 Gram lineup, and the big talking point right now is weight. These new Gram laptops take the idea of an ultra-portable laptop further by using a newly developed material called Aerominum, which makes the chassis exceptionally light while remaining tough and durable.
It also resists scratches better and meets strict military-grade standards for ruggedness. The result is what LG is calling the world’s lightest 17-inch laptop with dedicated RTX graphics, a claim that immediately grabs attention for anyone who hates lugging heavy gear around.
What’s new in the 2026 Gram laptops?
LG
The new Gram series will be showcased at CES 2026 and continues LG’s long history of building super-light notebooks. The lineup includes the LG Gram Pro 17 and LG Gram Pro 16 with some distinct twists.
The 17-inch model stands out because it squeezes a large 2560 x 1600 LCD display, 8GB of GDDR7 memory, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU into a body that feels closer in size to many 16-inch laptops.
LG says this device provides “ample performance for graphics-intensive tasks, content creation, and gaming.” However, it is unlikely to satisfy most hardcore gamers and it might be best suited for entry-level to mid-range gaming at 1080p. Also, this model will only be available in North America.
The 16-inch Pro model sets a new benchmark for being the lightest 16-inch system with both on-device and cloud-based AI support. It has a 2880 x 1800 OLED screen and runs on Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors, making it quick for everyday multitasking, editing, streaming, and more demanding jobs.

The 16-inch Gram Pro also introduces what LG calls dual AI functionality. It means the laptop can run certain AI features directly on the device using its hardware, while also tapping into cloud-based AI services when you are online.
Availability and prices have not been announced by LG yet, but the company is gearing up for a full reveal at CES next week.
As CES 2026 gets closer, LG is shaping up to dominate headlines well beyond laptops. The company is already teasing what could become 2026’s next big TV trend, alongside plans to debut a 27-inch 4K OLED RGB stripe panel and a premium OLED TV that could outshine mini LED in peak brightness. Together, these announcements suggest CES 2026 will be a major moment for LG across displays, TVs, and computing.

Google’s built-in Gemini is pulling users, and your workflow is why
New Similarweb data suggests Google is turning distribution into daily AI habits.

Google’s Gemini market share is climbing quickly, and a new web-traffic snapshot suggests the fight for generative AI is starting to look less like a one-horse race. Analytics platform Similarweb says Gemini’s share of generative AI web traffic rose from 5.4% to 18.2% over the last 12 months.
In the same window, ChatGPT’s share dropped from 87.2% to 68.0%, a 19-point slide. The story’s read is straightforward: early dominance is giving way to a market where people are spreading their usage, and the biggest platforms are starting to pull behavior in their direction.
ChatGPT ads won’t show up in your chats soon, but OpenAI is still testing them
A new report describes sponsored placements in answers, while OpenAI stresses trust and product quality.

OpenAI is still exploring “ChatGPT ads,” even after earlier signs it had cooled on the idea to keep improving response quality. The Information reports the company is considering sponsored content that could be prioritized so it shows up inside ChatGPT answers.
That matters for one simple reason: if paid placements are surfaced in the same space as advice, it can shape what you click and buy. It also doesn't mean ads are definitely coming. Companies test features constantly, and this is about concepts and mockups, not a launch.
The world’s first gaming monitor with a 1080Hz refresh rate is here, but is it meant for you?

At first, I thought it was a typo, but the Chinese display manufacturer HKC has indeed announced the world's first 1,080Hz monitor, just days after Samsung unveiled the Odyssey G6 with a 1,040Hz refresh rate. Clearly, monitor makers are racing each other to achieve faster refresh rates, and in the process, it is buyers like you who might benefit, and me.
The HKC ANTGAMER ANT275PQ MAX isn't officially out yet, but the brand plans to showcase it at CES 2026. However, HKC has revealed some of the monitor's headline features, including its ability to refresh at 1080 times per second at 720p and up to 540 times per second at 2K (1440p) resolution (lower than the Odyssey G6's 600Hz).
